The 2025 Symposium of Urban Design History and Theory (SUDHT) will be held on September 18-21 at the University at Buffalo’s School of Architecture and Planning. SUDHT is a worldwide forum with an expansive interest in the past and the premises of urban design. As such, the symposium features session and paper proposals that address all geographic settings and time periods. The purpose of the SUDHT is to create a forum for those whose scholarship relates to urban design to share and discuss their research, engage in fruitful conversation and debate, and form a community based on shared interests.
The event welcomes speakers to join in person, with an online option now also offered. There are four registration rates, which are kept affordable. The “Regular” fee is for in-person faculty presenters from countries listed as 'high income' by the World Bank. An “Student/Virtual/Adjusted” fees are available to all other participants: (Phd / graduate) students, online presenters, and presenters not from World Bank-listed high income countries.
*For folks experiencing a personal financial challenge, from countries listed as 'high income' by the World Bank planning to attend in-person, who are unable to meet the “Regular” rate, please reach out to conference organizer Conrad Kickert at kickert@buffalo.edu to request approval for use of the “Adjusted Rate”.
