Order of the Engineer

The Order of the Engineer is intended to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession, to bridge the gap between training and experience, and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer. Participants who recite the Obligation wear a stainless steel ring (traditionally worn on the pinkie finger) that exemplifies the profession's values (For participants who graduated from an ABET accredited engineering program or a licensed professional engineer).

Ring Sizing Directions: reach out to Ona Strang (onastran@buffalo.edu) to discuss.

Measure your ring size with these steps:

  1. Wrap string or paper around the base of your little finger.
  2. Mark the point where the ends meet with a pen.
  3. Measure the string or paper with a ruler (mm) then divide by 3.14 (or Pi) to get the diameter of the ring.
  4. Pick the closest measurement on a ring size chart to find your ring size.
